Indigenous America The Indigenous peoples of the Americans are the inhabitants of the Americans before the arrival of the European settlers in the 15th century. Why was it interesting to me? This time was interesting to me because it established our sense of identity and belonging. One specific Indigenous people tribes I read about was the Neutral The neutral were the largest Indigenous society in the eastern woodlands during the early 1600s numbering about 40,000 people. How does this connect to what I see around myself is there is many culturally groups related to Indigenous people present in the great lakes. This learning was new to me because I had never before read or heard about the Indigenous people.
Settler Colonialism Settler Colonialism is type of colonialism that functions through the replacement of indigenous populations with an invasive settler society. It was interesting to me because it was that functions through the replacement of indigenous populations with invasive settler society. This connects to what I see around because lands and resources are forcibly from taken from them for exploitation. This learning added to information I already knew about.
Events leading to the American Revolution The American revolution was principally caused by colonial opposition to British attempts to impose greater control over the colonies and to make them repay during the French and Indian War. (1754-1763) It was interesting because it was the first successful democratic movement in modern history. This connects to what we see today because it created national Identity, a sense of community based of shared history and culture.
